邓辉舫(DENG, Huifang),英籍华人,教授,博士生导师,教育部认证的高层次海外留学人才,1957年10月出生于湖南。分别于1981年及1985年在中国获得理学学士及理学硕士学位,于2000年在英国伦敦大学学院(UCL)获得理学博士学位。博士论文是2D液晶显示(LCD)系统关键技术研究(计算机模拟by有限元方法)。
由于他在理论凝聚态(理论物理)方面的出色研究,于1987年被破格提升为副教授,是年29岁。从1989年1月起,在英国学习,工作与生活。
从2001年1月到2004年9月,作为首席科学家及技术总监受聘于英国硅谷-剑桥一家高科技工程软件公司。以其深厚的数学功底及超常的算法分析能力使公司产品的功能及性能跃升到了一个至高的新层次,曾3次获得公司总裁颁发的杰出表现奖。
2004年9月,辞职受聘回国担任华南理工大学国家示范性软件学院院长。现为华南理工大学计算机科学与工程学院教授,博士生导师,先进计算、服务计算与科学计算团队负责人。

为了充分利用已有系统的数据资源和服务资源,建立一个扩展性好、资源占用 少、松散耦合、复用性强、维护方便的平台级或大型集成系统,文中提出了一种基于消息队 列软总线的系统集成方案,利用net程序集技术和C#语言的反射机制来构造“热插拨”数 据适配器,并将其编写成DLL程序集组件,从而实现异构(不同数据标准或格式)系统之 间有效的、方便的数据交换。该方案已应用于物流通关公共服务信息平台。

3D human motion analysis system is gaining more and more popularity and importance in sports training, game simulation and many other areas. Particle filter algorithm, as a powerful optimized method, can be applied to 3D human motion analysis system with more accurate results delivered and assured. An improved (hybrid) particle filter algorithm (IPFA) is proposed in this paper which integrates the advantages of partitioned particle filter algorithm (PPFA) with annealed particle filter algorithm (APFA). The results show that, the hybrid algorithm (IPFA) gives rise to more accurate results with less computational time consumed, compared to PPFA and APFA, and improves tracking efficiency and accuracy of 3D human motion substantially.

In this paper, a technique based on body features is employed to develop a system for sports training, healthcare and medical diagnosis through reusing huge amount of video resources, and extracting useful information from them. This technique realizes the motion capture by using existing video of human motion. The predefined human model is matched and identified with a sequence of videos. The interested feature points are tracked and calculated using relevant features of the human body. During the tracking, the human model is used for the conditional constraint and corrections. The approach is easy and quick. The efficiency of capture, stability and accuracy of the tracking are improved greatly with a low requirement for hardware specification. The 2D motion data can be generated easily and conveniently for 3D motion reconstruction in this system.

In this paper, an improved Lsb (Least Significant Bits) information hiding algorithm is proposed according to human visual theory and implemented in the temporal-spatial domain by using C#, and based on this, a system is developed for hiding and extraction of multimedia files, Compared with the traditional LSB method implemented by Matlab, the improved one has obvious advanlages in the environmental confguration requirements, the time-consuming in running and ease of use, To be specific, the system realized on, net platform takes less running time and resouces, has better extensibility and greatere ease-to-use, and other distinct features Besides, the system developed for hiding and extracting multimedia files based on the method has a wide range of adaptivity and good applicability.

A computer modelling method for the three-dimensionaldynamic analysis of liquid crystal display cells is presented. Themethod is based on a variational approach to the Oseen-Frank freeenergy formulation considering three elastic constants and uses avectorial representation of the director field. A simpler approximateform that uses only two elastic constants but is faster to operate isobtained as a by-product of the full three-constant modelimplementation. The modelling uses finite elements on a mesh oftetrahedral elements for the calculation of directors and electricpotentials while finite differences in time are used in the time steppingprocess. Comparisons are made with results from a 2D dynamicprogram using a tensor model giving good agreement.

We present a new formulation for the dynamicmodeling of twisted nematic liquid crystal display cells based on aconstant charge assumption instead of the commonly used "fixedvoltage" model. This formulation is based on a tensor representationof the director field, which is solved using a combination offinite-element and finite-difference methods. It allows the accuratemodeling of liquid crystal pixel cells in thin-film-transistor-drivenactive matrix displays, extensively used in flat panel computer andtelevision displays.

In this paper a two-dimensional (2-D) dynamicmodel, based on a tensor formulation and solved numericallyby combining finite elements and finite differences, is proposedand used for analyzing nematic liquid crystal (LC) test cells withinterdigital electrodes. We compare theoretical and experimentalresults concerning the switching behavior, response mechanism,and viewing angle characteristics of nematic LC pixel structureswhich use the in-plane-switching (IPS) mode. The good agreementobserved between theory and experiment in terms of electroopticalproperties validates our modeling and demonstrates itspotential for design optimization. We show that the proposed LCtest cells, using the in-plane-switching mode, ensure switching-ON and -OFF response times of 22 and 28 ms, respectively, andexcellent viewing angle characteristics.

A molecular-dynamics study has been made of the influence of solute content on low-energy displacement cascade processes in copper containing up to 15 at. % Au in solid solution. This alloy system was chosen to illustrate the effects of heavy, oversized solute atoms in a fcc matrix. Cascades of up to 2ke Vin energy were considered. The presence of the solute was found to have a significant impact on all phases of cascade development, but not on the final defect number. The ballistic phase is increased in duration, and the number of temporarily displaced atoms is increased by the solute, and the thermal spike that follows is also increased in intensity and duration. As a consequence, the atomic mixing associated with these two phases was highest in the Cu–15% Au alloy that contained the most solute. However, as a result of self-healing in the thermal spike, the final number of Frenkel defects is independent of alloy composition. To test the influence of solute atomic mass, simulations were carried out on copper containing solute atoms with the same size as Au, but a lighter mass than copper. The alloys with this fictitious element did not show the ballistic-and thermal-spike effects exhibited by those containing "normal" gold. The results are discussed in terms of the likely roles of solutes in damage evolution in alloys under cascade-producing irradiation.

The influence of solute atoms on point-defect properties and defect generation by radiation damage in alloys is known to be important, and hence it is desirable to understand their effect on the basic mecha- nisms involved. Most computer modeling of these phenomena has only considered pure metals, but as part of a project to investigate displacement cascades in alloys, we have simulated dilute solutions of gold (Au) in copper (Cu), treating this as a "model" for a heavy, oversized solute alloy system. In the present paper, modified many-body interatomic potentials for the Cu-Au system are described that are suitable for modeling high-energy atomic collisions. The properties of point defects in pure copper and the dilute alloy, including solute-defect binding energies, are presented. The oversized solute has a larger binding energy with an interstitial atom than with a vacancy. The displacement threshold energy, Ea, of a Cu atom and a Au atom in the copper matrix has been investigated as a function of primary recoil direction, and the difference between the two species is found to be substantial. Furthermore, the pres- ence of a Au solute has a significant effect on the formation of Frenkel pairs by the replacement- collision-sequence mechanism. These results are discussed in terms of the mass and size difference of Cu and Au atoms.

Research into displacement cascade processes in alloy systems has received little attention, yet is potentially of interest because issuessuch as the effect of solutes on the displacement threshold and the defectdistribution and movement in cascades are important. As part of a widerstudy, we have initially considered the minor substitutional solute Au in a Cu matrix, and have used molecular dynamics to investigate the properties of point defects, the threshold displacement energy Ed, and temporal and spatial distribution of defects in low-energy (≤500 eV) displacement cascades. The results show that the influence of the solute on the properties of defects is important and that Edis dramatically different from its form in pure copper. In comparison with pure copper,the recoil of the Au solute gives rise to a higher peak at longer timesin the number of displaced atoms in the generation of a displacement cascade. The influence of this on defect density in the cascade and thefinal number and arrangement of defects has been investigated.
